Vacation Dog Sitting in Virginia Beach
Travel plans are easier to make when you know who will care for your dog. Stable Hands provides in-home dog sitting in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake, with a neighborhood care team that gets to know your dog and follows the routine you’ve established. We’re your partners in pet care, whether you’re planning a weekend away or a longer vacation.
Before your first trip, we meet you and your dog to go over feeding, medication, walks, and how your dog likes to spend the day. You can show us how you do things at home and ask questions about how care will work. Your dog sitter follows those instructions throughout your trip, and we keep them up to date as your dog’s needs change.
During your trip, we take care of meals, fresh water, and bathroom breaks, along with walks, play, and company. For a dog who enjoys a game or a challenge, play and enrichment can be an important part of the visit. Dogs entering their golden years can benefit from slower, quieter care. For puppies, dog sitting in a familiar environment provides stability and comfort during an important transition.
Since 2015, Stable Hands has provided dog sitting throughout Hampton Roads for dogs of different ages and energy levels. During your travels, you’ll receive notes and photos through Time To Pet after each visit so you can see how your dog is doing.

Plan care for your whole household
As partners in pet care, we work with you to plan your dog’s care around your departure and return times, their usual schedule, and how long they can comfortably be alone. Together, we’ll choose visit lengths and frequency and discuss whether overnight care would be a good fit. We’ll confirm availability and the total cost before you book.
If you have cats, their care is included in the plan, too. We don’t charge an extra pet fee. We help you choose enough time to care for everyone properly, because with Stable Hands, care comes first.

How it works
Tell us about your trip
Share your dates and your dog’s usual day. We’ll discuss the care you need, confirm availability, and explain the cost.
Meet the people caring for your dog
A meet and greet gives us time to get acquainted, review your instructions, and walk through home access together.
Keep the routine going
Our neighborhood team follows the care plan, spends time with your dog, and shares notes and photos after visits through Time To Pet.
Build on a familiar relationship
As we get to know your dog, we keep their care details up to date. That familiarity carries into your next trip and changes as your dog’s needs change.
